United for Our Neighbors 2026
We invite you to celebrate America’s 250th birthday this summer by joining our Community Compassion Campaign!
As our community continues to face financial hardship, we ask you to consider participating in the United for Our Neighbors Community Compassion Campaign.
More of your neighbors are facing eviction, utility shutoffs, and food insecurity than ever before. Many working families who have never needed help before are now seeking assistance simply to make ends meet. We are also seeing grandparents and relatives stepping in to raise children while living on fixed incomes and trying to stretch limited resources.
Within our Shively community, many families are struggling under the weight of rising costs of basic living:
- Rent prices continue to climb, and affordable housing is growing scarce
- Grocery and gas prices remain high – up about 8% this year alone
- LG&E and water bills continue increasing due to restricted energy resources
- Wages are not keeping pace with the true cost of living
Together, we can help bring hope, stability, and encouragement to families facing difficult circumstances.
Host a Community Food Drive
Partner with Shively Area Ministries to help fight hunger in our community! Organizing a food drive is a simple and powerful way to make a difference. Whether it's through your church, business, school, or neighborhood, your efforts help keep our pantry shelves stocked for families in need.
We welcome donations of nonperishable food items such as canned goods, pasta, peanut butter, and cereal. Every item collected goes directly to supporting local families. Food Donations can be dropped off Monday-Thursday 9am-12pm
Questions? Contact us at 502-447-4330x123 or leah@shivelyarea.org. Together, we can share hope and nourishment with our neighbors in need.

Make a Difference
Become a Monthly Donor Today! Your Support Transforms Lives
The average median household income for those we serve is $16,447. Last year alone, over 14,000 people received critical help from SAM. This included providing food for families who would otherwise go hungry, financial aid to prevent families from losing their homes, and supporting families raising children other than their own, ensuring these children have a stable and loving home environment.
Join the exceptional group of monthly donors dedicated to sustaining this mission of hope and compassion. Your monthly gift—whether it's $10, $25, or $50—will provide crucial and steady support to families in crisis. Regardless of its size, your contribution will make a significant difference. When you join, you become more than just a donor — you become a vital partner in changing lives.
