Helping to Keep Families Together
Supporting Kids and Caregivers—Our Relatives Raising Kids Program supports caregivers in the community who are raising children from extended family or non-family members. In addition to supporting rent, food, and utilities through our regular programs, this program assists with needs that may fall outside of our traditional programming based on individual needs, such as personal items and clothing for the children.
How We Provide Support:
- Educational Programs for children and caregivers, such as Budgeting, Parenting, and Cooking Matters
- Connecting caregivers to outside resources like legal aid representation, social workers, and support groups
- Ease emotional struggles by listening, encouraging, and referring to professional counseling as requested
To qualify for assistance through this program, caregivers should be prepared to show:
- Proof of address in the Shively Area Ministries service area (40216 ZIP code)
- A picture ID
- Social Security Cards for all in the household, including children
- Other items as needed, determined by type of assistance
